LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pulitzer-Prize winning film critic Roger Ebert died on Thursday, the Chicago Sun-Times said, two days after he said his cancer of 10 years ago had returned. "It is with a heavy heart we report that legendary film critic Roger Ebert (@ebertchicago) has passed away," the newspaper where Ebert worked for decades said on Twitter.
Britain's "Bond girl" queen wins honorary film award
LONDON (Reuters) - Queen Elizabeth was awarded one of Britain's most prestigious entertainment honors on Thursday for her support for the film and television industry. UK rock star cancels Russia gigs over rights groups "crackdown"
MOSCOW (Reuters) - British rock star and founder of the band Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, said on Thursday he had canceled two concerts in Russia due to what he called a crackdown on human rights groups. Russian prosecutors and tax officials searched the offices of Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Memorial, Russia's oldest rights group, and other such organizations last month in what Kremlin critics said were raids aimed at stifling criticism of President Vladimir Putin.
Conductor Salonen dashes from Frank Zappa to Stravinsky
LONDON (Reuters) - Finnish conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen dislikes musical anniversaries but he is celebrating so many this year he failed to notice one - the 20th anniversary of the death of the anarchic American rock innovator Frank Zappa. It isn't often that "Mothers of Invention" founder Zappa's rock-and-orchestral score for his film "200 Motels" is revived, but Salonen, 54, will conduct it in October with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where he served as Music Director from 1992 until 2009, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the orchestra's acoustically exquisite Walt Disney Concert Hall.
New "Arrested Development" season to stream online on May 26
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The anticipated return of cult television series "Arrested Development" will premiere on May 26 with the entire 15-episode new season available to stream online, Netflix said on Thursday, seven years after the show ended on network television. The Emmy-winning series, which was canceled after three seasons by U.S. network Fox in 2006 because of poor ratings, will be streamed online beginning at 12:01 a.m. PST (03.01 EDT), the Internet subscription service said.

UK's Tate removes prints by artist guilty of child sex offenses
LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Tate gallery has removed more than 30 prints by artist Graham Ovenden from its online collection after the 70-year-old, whose major works feature young girls, was found guilty of sex offenses against children. The internationally acclaimed artist was found guilty by a court in Truro, southwest England, on Tuesday of six charges of indecency with a child and one count of indecent assault.
Timberlake keeps Billboard No. 1 from Lil Wayne, Blake Shelton
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Justin Timberlake held onto the top spot of the Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday, beating competition from new albums by rapper Lil Wayne and country singer Blake Shelton. Timberlake's chart-topping "The 20/20 Experience," which features the hit single "Suit & Tie," sold 318,000 copies in its second week, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan.
