Utah unemployment insurance program receives award | The Salt ...

The Utah Department of Workforce Services has received the 2012 Full Employment Best Practices Award from the American Institute for Full Employment.

The award is given to a state agency that the institute determines best exemplifies a commitment and dedication to the reemployment of those filing for unemployment insurance by offering proactive policies and innovative programs.

"You have not only successfully established a clear and identifiable vision within your agency regarding [unemployment insurance] claimant reemployment, you also have developed unique and effective tools to do so," John W. Courtney, president of the institute, said in a statement announcing the award.

He added that those initiatives not only help promote full employment for Utah job seekers, but also do so in a fiscally sustainable way."

The American Institute for Full Employment, which is based in Klamath Falls, Ore., is a non-profit public policy research center founded in 1994. Its goal is to research and develop effective public assistance, employment, and retirement policies.
