BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Learn about your risks for diabetes on campus at UAB on March 26 in an event sponsored by the American Diabetes Association.
It's called Alert Day and is billed as a one-day "wake-up call" to challenge the public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to see the risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
Alabama leads the nation with 12.2 percent of the population with diabetes, according to the ADA.
The risk test asks simple questions about weight, age, family history and other risk factors for the disease.
This is a one-day event at the campus mini park and the Hill University Center from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. But the Diabetes Risk Test is offered year round.
For every test taken, the delicatessen products company Boar's Head will donate $5 up to $50,000 to the American Diabetes Association.
